Semester Reflection.

At the beginning of this course, I was kind of nervous to take it. I heard this course was going to be a lot of busy work and not a lot of teaching. The past students were very wrong, I learned a lot with how to engage people with posts and what to say. I really ended up enjoying this course, I've had actually had a business take my advice on how to move their business forward with online marketing and how to use different platforms to their advantage.

I expected to learn a lot about the background information of how to maneuver around Facebook, Twitter, and maybe even Instagram from a business point of view. I almost expected a lot of reading, and power points. I expected to learn how to maybe use other social media's that I've never heard of.

What I actually learned is how too use Facebook, Blogger and Twitter to my advantage. Using Blogger, Twitter, and Facebook  to promote the other social media pages. I learned what key words to use to keep people engaged in my posts and how to deal with angry comments. I felt that the most important thing to learn was about how to deal with angry customers and the proper way to handle all sorts of comments.

My favorite part of the class was learning how to use all the social media accounts to my advantage if I were a business owner. I was already able to use this information in the real world for a company I kind of work for. They were able to increase their following on Facebook and they were able to increase their enrollment. Their classes for the spring session at their gym is already nearly full! This is something I hope to be able to do in the future and I already used it while still in college.

Food drive for the homeless shelter!

We're having a food drive starting November 18, 2016 through November 27, 2016. But this isn't just any normal food drive, we're adding a competition portion to this for a bit of incentive! Each class time will have their own bucket for donations, which ever class time put in the most donation wins. Which ever class time wins, gets to choose what the instructor and the coaches get to teach in. For example, if 6 am class time won and wanted their instructor male instructor to wear a sports bra and a tennis skirt, they fully agreed to whatever the members pick. So be sure to bring in as much canned food and other non-perishable healthy options as possible! Below I will be putting a list of items that we will be needing for the food drive.

Along with this we're also accepting donations for No Shave November. We're hoping to raise around $5,000. If we reach this goal, we will be having a special banquet in honor of all those who contributed in one way or another. Whither it be with the food drive, or with  No Shave November. We think November is the time of year to show how grateful we are for this business, and we'd love to share all we can with our communities. During the month of December, we will also be having toy/clothing drive, so be ready for that!

Here's what we're looking for, for the food drive!
  1. Proteins: canned meat (tuna, ham, or chicken), beef stew, chili, peanut butter, canned or dried beans, Boost/Ensure
  2. Fruits and vegetables: 100% fruit juice, canned fruits and vegetables, jam and jelly, fruit preserves, spaghetti sauce
  3. Complete meals: pasta, boxed meals, instant potatoes, hearty soups
  4. Items corresponding to special diets: gluten-free, vegetarian, vegan, low sugar or sugar-free, low sodium, etc.
  5. Staple foods: sugar, flours, coffee, oils (olive, coconut, palm, corn, canola, etc)
  6. Garden produce that has been washed
  7. Infant formula, baby food, and diapers (especially size 5, 6, and pull-ups)
  8. Items specific to particular ethnic groups
  9. Personal hygiene products: shampoo, deodorant, soap, diapers, toilet paper, feminine hygiene products, toothpaste, toothbrushes
  10. Cleaning supplies: laundry detergent, dish detergent, paper towels, kitchen and bathroom cleaners
*Please note that we would prefer no glass jars. For safety, we are unable to accept home-canned food.
Also we're starting to use a new app with our program! Please be sure to check out our Soundcast. Links below for all our channels!

We soon realized we need to step up our game and become a safe place for men, women and children. Our instructors are trained in numerous ways, from karate, all the way to Judo and Jiu-Jitsu. We also offer private lessons! So please feel free to talk to any of our instructors about this opportunity and we will be sure to work with your schedule!
